Recent Educational Resources Can Now be Found on the new Website - materials.abi.org

ABI is pleased to announce the launch of another new product, materials.abi.org. At this new conference educational materials website members can sort resources dating back to 2005 by conference, speaker or keyword. Exclusively for our members, files will be downloaded to your device in PDF format. The Midwestern Bankruptcy Institute and Consumer Forum was held in September at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. There were two sessions of interest to the committee at the conference. First, "Case Law Update: 'Yours, Mine and Ours'" offered attendees updates from the Eighth and Tenth Circuits, and the Supreme Court on topics such as property of the estate, a trustee's rights after avoiding liens and post-confirmation modifications, as well as several case studies. The Eighth Circuit update was provided by Hon. Barry S. Schermer of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri in St. Louis; the Tenth Circuit update was provided by Hon. Robert E. Nugent of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Kansas in Wichita; the Supreme Court update was provided by Hon. Arthur B. Next, the session titled "Creditors Gone Wild: Foreclosure Fraud" covered topics such as liar's loans and appraisal fraud, and also offered attendees with an in-depth selection of links for further reading. The session titled "Cutting-Edge Issues in Agriculture Bankruptcies" used United States V. Hall as a basis for discussing a variety of related topics including liens under the UCC, the States' Enactment of Revised Article 9, statutory trusts under the Perishable Agriculture Commodities Act and case law related to several districts. Panelists included Joseph Hawbaker of Hawbaker Law Office of Omaha, Neb., Phillip L. Kunkel of Gray, Plant, Mooty, Mooty and Bennett, P.A. in St. Cloud, Minn., Hon. Thomas L. Saladino of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nebraska in Lincoln and Donald D. Sunderland of Mullin Hoard & Brown LLC in Amarillo, Texas.
