Materials from the Atlanta Consumer Bankruptcy Skills Training
The Atlanta Consumer Bankruptcy Skills Training was held on January 28 at the State Bar of Georgia Headquarters in Atlanta. The ABI partnered with the Bankruptcy Section of the Atlanta Bar Association and the Metro-Atlanta Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys Group to provide attendees with an interactive learning experience led by prominent bankruptcy judges and experienced practitioners. One session was of particular interest to the committee.
The session, "Discovery/Trial Ethics," addressed issues concerning electronically stored information as well as ethical and moral issues in bankruptcy litigation. Hon. James D. Walker, Jr. of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court (M.D. Ga.) in Macon, Ga. presented his paper entitled "Ethics and the Discovery of Electronically Stored Information." Hon. Paul W. Bonapfel of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court (N.D. Ga.) in Atlanta discussed standards of conduct for lawyers in his presentation, "Ethical Issues in Bankruptcy Litigation."
