It has been a busy fall and winter for the Financial Advisors Committee. In December at the Winter Leadership Conference in Tucson, Ariz., in conjunction with the Investment Banking Committee, we hosted a panel discussion on how the current investment climate, which has made even secured lenders shudder, has impacted how restructuring advisors are able to effect solutions for their clients. In front of record attendance, the leadership of both committees presented a lively discussion of how we are coping with the shutdown of the credit markets and reduced M&A activity. The program was designed to educate the audience on what is working and what isn't as mid-market companies try to cope with uncertainty at many levels. Judging from the audience reaction, we hit the mark.
We are now preparing for the Annual Spring Meeting in April and have put together a program that addresses many of the same issues raised in December, but this time from a lender's perspective. The committee is pleased that four excellent lender representatives have agreed to tackle "How Lenders Are Coping with the New Realities of the Economy and Credit Markets." The panel will be moderated by Thomas J. Donnelly of UBS Investment Bank and will be joined by Thomas Cambern of Wachovia Capital Markets LLC, T. Michael Logan of Suntrust Bank and Mark Manski of Barclays Capital. These four talented senior executives will share their perspectives on what is happening. We expect that this will be another lively and educational session and hope that you can join us in National Harbor, Md. Click here to register today!
One last note: Please join us in welcoming Michael Schaedle of Blank Rome LLP to the leadership team of your committee. Already serving on the Advisory Board of ABI's Mid-Atlantic Conference, Mike has agreed to serve as Newsletter Editor and begins his tenure with this edition. Welcome Mike!
