ABI's 5th Annual International Insolvency Symposium
The ABI will hold the 5th Annual International Insolvency Symposium Program in Paris, France at the gorgeous Westin Paris this Friday, October 9. The program has been developed to offer an interactive learning experience led by a faculty of prominent international insolvency practitioners and leading U.S. bankruptcy judges. Two of the sessions will be of particular interest to the committee.
Panelists in the session "'Out of Court' Restructurings in Europe" will discuss the relatively recent French settlement process called Conciliation. Conciliation is a a preventative measure that aims to prevent debtors' actual insolvency. Nicholas Theys of SJ Berwin in Paris will moderate. Panelists will include Luc Marty of Mazars in Paris, Roland P. Montfort of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius MNP in Paris and Christophe Thevenot of Thevenot & Perdereau in Paris. The session "The Wilmington Effect - Competition for Cases" will explore different countries' insolvency procedures that could affect where international businesses locate or relocate in the future.
