Two Recent Bills of Note
Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, recently introduced the “Protecting Employees and Retirees in Business Bankruptcy Act of 2010” (H.R. 4677), which aims to amend title 11 of the U.S. Code to improve recoveries and reduce losses for employees and retirees, as well as restrict executive compensation programs. The “Bankruptcy Judgeship Act of 2010” (H.R. 4506) proposes to add 13 permanent bankruptcy judgeships in a number of districts, convert 22 temporary bankruptcy judgeships into permanent appointments and extend the terms of two temporary judgeships. Please click the link below to read the bill.

The session “The Legislative Agenda: Current Legislation Affecting the Bankruptcy Process” will take place on Friday, April 30 at 10:15 a.m. The panel will discuss the “too big to fail” financial industry reform bill, the proposed Consumer Financial Protection Agency and the growing deficit of the PBGC, among other issues.
