ABI's 17th Annual Central States Bankruptcy Workshop will be held at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in Traverse City, Mich., June 17-20. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, the area offers golf, wineries, fishing, hiking and shopping. In addition to an abundance of timely topics, this year's conference will offer a special workshop track for both consumer and business issues. One of the sessions will be of particular interest to the committee.
Panelists in the session "The Never-Ending Story II: The Continuing Demise of the Real Estate Business" will discuss why receiverships are an attractive alternative to bankruptcy, recent developments in credit bidding, issues that arise when a receivership ends up in a bankruptcy and chapter 11 plan confirmation in a single asset real estate case. The ABI is pleased to announce your new Real Estate Committee Co-Chairs. Michael J. Goldberg of Cohn Whitesell & Goldberg LLP in Boston and David R. Kuney of Sidley Austin LLP in Washington, D.C. have accepted the positions for the 2010-2011 term. Mr. Goldberg moves up from his previous committee position as Education Director and Mr. Kuney continues as Co-Chair for another year.
The ABI would also like to thank Berry D. Spears of Fulbright & Jaworski LLP in Houston and John F. Young of Markus Williams Young & Zimmerman, LLC in Denver for their service as Co-Chairs.
