Save the Date for A Tequila-Tasting at the Southeast Bankruptcy Workshop

This summer, the ABI Endowment will be hosting its first in-person fundraiser in more than a year: a tequila-tasting for registrants of the Southeast Bankruptcy Workshop, being held July 29-Aug. 1 in Palm Beach, Fla. This special event for workshop attendees, which will include margaritas and sangrias, will take place from 8:00-9:30 p.m. July 30 at The Breakers hotel. Tickets are $150 per person, and proceeds benefit the Endowment. Those currently registered for the Southeast Bankruptcy Workshop can add this event as an optional event on their online registration. Thanks go to Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP for sponsoring this event. For more information (including details about becoming a sponsor), please contact Sharisa Sloan.

ABI Endowment Receives Residual Funds in Rockies Case

The ABI Endowment Fund is grateful to Jason S. Brookner (Gray Reed & McGraw LLP; Dallas) for directing $25,264.89 in residual funds to the ABI Endowment in the Rockies chapter 11 case, Rockies Region 2007 Limited Partnership, Case No. 18-33514. The case is pending before Hon. Stacey G. C. Jernigan in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Pursuant to applicable local rules, a chapter 11 liquidating plan may provide that any unclaimed funds may be redistributed to a tax-exempt, nonprofit, nonreligious organization identified in the plan or disclosure statement accompanying the plan. Designating the ABI Endowment as a charity in chapter 11 liquidation plans is a great way to have undistributed funds benefit insolvency research.
